EAT HERE → Makai Poke Co. at 521 Washington Street in Hoboken. This new build-your-own poke bowl restaurant fuses traditional Japanese cooking techniques with classic Hawaiian poke and follows a “boat to bowl” philosophy ensuring the highest grade sustainably caught fish.
CELEBRATE @ → the Jersey City St. Patrick’s Day Parade Saturday March 13 at 12:30. The parade starts at Lincoln Park and Kennedy Boulevard, and marches down Kennedy Boulevard ending at the historic Loew’s Theatre in Journal Square.
ADOPT A TREE → From the Hoboken Shade Tree Commission. The commission is seeking property owners who would like a tree planted in the sidewalk adjacent to their building and who will agree to care for and water the tree. Trees are $100 along with a pledge to keep the tree well-watered.
DRINK WHISKEY @ → The Jersey City Whiskey Fest, the can’t-miss event for whiskey aficionados. Whiskey distillers, master blenders, and other whiskey experts will be on hand to answer your questions. But more importantly, you’ll be able to sample single malt and blended Scotch, Irish, Japanese, Canadian, Tennessee, bourbon, rye, and craft-distilled whiskeys. March 24 at the Harborside, Jersey City.
BUST MYTHS → with MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition at the Liberty Science Center. This new exhibit includes live demonstrations, visitor participation, and spectacular sets and experiences from the popular TV show. Don’t miss the backwards-driving Porsche or the duct-tape airplane hanging in the atrium.
BE ON THE LOOKOUT → One of the most luxurious buildings in coming to Weehawken early next year. The Aurora, a 184 unit building will be THE place to check out.
CHECK OUT → Northwest “Pop-Up” Park in uptown Hoboken. This new park between 13th Street, Adams Street and 12th Street, will be full of features and amenities, including: mini-golf, a rock climbing wall, playground, splash park, restrooms, public art space and so much more.
NEED A LAUGH → and want a great Italian dinner too, check out Paisano’s in Rutherford. Comedy night is the last Thursday of every month. Great food + good laughs = fun night.
