Places to go and things to do to make the most out of your May in Hudson County.

EAT HERE → Ani Ramen at 218 Newark Ave in Jersey City. Opening in late April, Ani Ramen features hand rolled noodle ramen made with finely selected ingredients. The new spot also has a full bar that features craft cocktails. This is their second location.

 

ENJOY A CAROUSEL RIDE HERE → Newport Carousel Opening at Newport Green Playground on May 20. Enjoy carnival games, face painters, balloons artists, and jugglers, all right on the Jersey City waterfront with spectacular city views. And of course, don’t leave without a ride on the carousel!

GET A LEI & YOUR GROCERIES HERE Trader’s Joe’s at 1350 Willow Ave in Hoboken. After much anticipation, Trader Joe’s is finally opening on Friday, May 19 at 9am! There will be a daylong celebration at the store with leis, food demonstrations, and more.

 

GATHER & INNOVATIVE HERE  Propelify Innovation Festival on May 18.  Propelify will include more than 40 speakers on two stages along Hoboken’s Hudson River waterfront. Learn, connect with startups and investors, and check out virtual reality, drones, music, and more.

JOIN THE FIGHT AGAINST LEUKEMIA & PARTY LIKE GATSBY HERE → A Night for the Fight Great Gatsby Gala May 6 at Maritime Parc’s second-floor Sky Room. Tickets are $150 and include open bar, food, a silent auction, live music, dancing and giveaway raffles. All proceeds go directly to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

 

HEAD TO → Art and Mindfulness Event for Children on May 6 at Asana Soul Practice in Hoboken. This free event is for children ages 3 to 5, and children will learn mindfulness through breathing activities, story time, and through interactive art projects.

CELEBRATE THE RETURN OF →  Historic Downtown Farmers Market in Jersey City. Opening day is May 1, and they are celebrating 10 years with an event filled day! You can take a photo with a tractor from Stony Hill farms, enjoy some music by DJ Dancing Tony of The Rock(it)-Docket, and enjoy a piece of cake from Jersey City Sweets! There will also be locally made beer and wines available. The market is every Monday & Thursdays 4-8pm through December.

 

GET YOUR FITNESS ON → JC Fitness Fair 2017 on May 20 at City Hall in Jersey City. This is a free event promoting fitness and healthy living. Come check out free workout demonstrations and expert fitness advise from local fitness gurus.

HONOR THE MILITARY HERE → FleetWeek at Liberty State Park Sunday, May 28 from noon until 5pm. Join the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard as they showcase the latest capabilities of today’s maritime services. The event celebrates the sea services and features demonstrations, performances, and activities for children.
